My Project

Our students at Havasu Prep in Lake Havasu City, are still recovering from the social, emotional, and academic strain due to COVID-19. GSI Kids Play Parachute, the Tug a Rope for Kids, and Outdoor Games are great building tools for our project that will help our students develop healthy communication skills, responsible decision-making, cooperation, collaboration, connectedness, and a sense of belonging.

According to CASEL’s definition, “Social and emotional learning (SEL) is the process through which children and adults understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions” and through team building exercises, our students will build trust and strengthen their social-emotional skills that in turn will increase academic performance.

As our students learn to work as part of a team, they will develop other social skills, such as patience, empathy, respect, compromise, and tolerance, as well as, develop confidence in themselves and trust in other people.
