This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are amazing! I have 18 students with a wide range of ability levels, including students with special needs. My classroom consists of students who are ELL (English Speakers of other Languages), SLD (Specific Learning Disorder), and who receive free or reduced lunch. My students are creative and inquisitive and exude a love for learning.
Most importantly, we have created a classroom family where my students all work together and strive to do their very best.
My Project
These books will make a difference in my students’ learning by allowing them to check them out from our classroom library in order to participate in the SSYRA challenge. Our school library has copies, however, having additional copies makes the books more accessible for all students. This is a state-wide reading challenge sponsored by the Florida Department of Education (FDOE) and the Florida Association of Media Education (FAME).
These books are challenging, diverse, and just plain fantastic!
The SSYRA reading program will help my students grow a love of reading for a lifetime! Once students complete a book, they will receive small awards and recognitions from the school, librarian, and myself!
