This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I love that my students enjoy reading! They truly enjoy their DEAR time. Our goal is to increase our independent reading time and keep them engaged! We are asking for a small reading area with flexible seating and some age-appropriate books so that they can have a comfortable place to read. Flexible seating will also be used for all students who need it during independent working times. I have also asked for a few storage containers so that we can keep the area neat and organized as well as utilize them around the classroom.
Math manipulatives and fidgets were added as our school has over 30% of special education students enrolled into our school.
These will help keep our students on track or just take a quick break before finishing their independent work. And last but not least, I have asked for a small donation of snacks as a lot of students come to school and miss breakfast time. Unfortunately, they come in late and haven’t had breakfast. This makes for a difficult start of the day. With a quick snack students can have a better start to their day! I have seen how this can really positively impact their day. We appreciate your consideration and anything will help!
