Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As a second-grade teacher, I owe my students everything in my power to get them to read fluently before they enter third grade. After second grade, the focus shifts from 'learning to read' to 'reading to learn.' While our current curriculum covers all skills, I would like to supplement it with resources I have found online that are more engaging and offer more practice opportunities. The Science of Reading fully guides these resources, and I know they would help even my strongest readers improve.
The books in my cart are based on current interests in my classroom.
I have students who love mysteries, and these would allow for great read-alouds that would encourage them to pick up the next book in the series and read it independently.
My ultimate goal is to create a love of reading. This will help me do that.
