My students need books, books, books! They need lots of great books, such as Levels Z Fiction and Nonfiction and High Interest Leveled Readers that they can enjoy reading beyond the classroom.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Severe budget cuts are hurting our students! Due to severe budget cuts and class-size increases, materials, especially great and exciting books have become been hard to come by.
My students are FANTASTIC!
When they find books they enjoy reading there's no stopping them. Unfortunately for them, they are being educated during a time when resources are being drastically cut. They love reading all types of books, both old and new. It is imperative that they always have a variety of books available to them.
My Project
My students need books, books, books! They need lots of great books, such as Levels Z Fiction and Nonfiction and High Interest Leveled Readers that they can enjoy reading beyond the classroom. With these books, I hope to be able to provide students with a wide selection of books they can read in small book clubs. I wish to create literature circles in which students have the opportunity to read the same book as their peers and discuss their findings. My goal is to create a community of eager readers.
Providing a variety of books for my students to read will give them the opportunity they need to begin enjoying book clubs and reading in groups.
By meeting on a regular basis to read and discuss these books, it will help them become more avid readers who read and talk about books both in and out of the classroom.
