The students at my school are from low-income families. Our students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds with 100% of our students receiving free lunch.
Our library is the center of learning in our diverse population.
Our students visit the library often for a variety of reasons and we want to continue to serve them.
Our students are creative and energetic. They want to learn. We serve a school with a large population of students with special medical needs. Our school is funded through Title I.
My Project
These magazines will continue to enhance the print-rich modern school library that I strive to create. My library is a place that my students really enjoy. I read on the carpet to them, they complete work there, and they read independently! Every student will walk away each week with a new magazine. Also, each copy comes with a digital teacher's copy that will be used for students who are home learning virtually; and they are thankful for the opportunities to read. All of these magazines have been chosen with my students in mind. I have watched them the past few weeks of school read titles similar to these, and I have also asked them what type of magazines they would enjoy reading. Students will be able to choose magazines, which will help them continue to enjoy independent reading time.
The wall decor and flexible seating will make more a fun and attractive area for readers to relax and read.
