This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My Kindergarten students are creative, curious, and always eager to learn. This year has been tough for them due to COVID restrictions in school which is not how Kindergartners are supposed to learn and grow their brains; 6 feet apart, no touching, no playing with the same manipulatives, no small group activities, no partner reading, and writing, everything that Kindergartners thrive on. My students however have grown an absolute love for my read aloud stories because it not only gets them excited about reading on their own but it helps them to expand their imaginations, ask questions, be curious, predict what might happen next, talk to each other about their likes and dislikes, differences and similarities. They are always eager to write or draw after any read-aloud and THAT is my goal for my Kindergartners, to just get them EXCITED.
My Project
Having a variety of fiction, nonfiction, and early reader books will make a HUGE difference in my students' creative minds. They will not only enjoy more in-person read-aloud stories, but they will start to have books of their own to practice their skill of fluently reading to get them ready for First Grade! These books will help them to be creative in their own writing as well as using their imagination while drawing their illustrations and creating stories of their own!
