My Students
My students are energetic, apt to learn, and love to move and groove! They come from various economic backgrounds, which makes them different in various ways. They are faced with challenges inside the classroom setting, as well as, outside. I teach at a Title-1 school where all students receive free breakfast and lunch. Even though they may face challenges, my goal is to make sure explicit learning takes place along with, having fun! The students can do anything they put their minds to and my goal is to get them there!
My Project
I believe that a classroom library is the heartbeat of a teacher's environment. It is the window into an educator's own personality, and it reflects the importance of literacy in the classroom. I believe that every teacher (no matter what subject he or she teaches) should have one.
Classroom libraries play a key role in providing access to books and promoting literacy.
They have the potential to increase student motivation, engagement, achievement, and help students become critical thinkers.
My classroom library will support reading and writing instruction. It will give the students the opportunity to read the books they love and have self-to-text connections. It gives them the opportunity to increase their writing skills. The students will also be able to incorporate the standards that are being taught: main idea, key details, summarization, sequential order ( and others).
Nearly all students from low‑income households
