My Students
My students attend school every day excited to learn! They are sweet, smart and hardworking. These students are receiving RTI reading services because they have reading difficulties and don't read on grade level. Some read more than 2 grade levels lower than the grade they are in; although they would give anything to improve. We identify where the difficulties are and come up with a plan to get them up to speed!
My students come to school with many other challenges as well.
The Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES) they suffer from include: difficult family dynamics, economic struggles and displacement. They often don't get the support they need from home. They love coming to school and appreciate all the support they get from the professionals around them. Teaching my students is such a rewarding and fun job!
My Project
These materials will provide my students with a fun way to improve their reading skills. On a daily basis, we work with a very basic reading program that needs more pizzazz! These supplemental materials provide more creativity and opportunity to collaborate with their peers. They will manipulate, build and create using the dice, blocks, stamps and puzzles! Theses materials address all their reading needs including: phonics, decoding, fluency and comprehension.
My students are very eager to learn, but these new classroom resources will make each day even more fun and engaging!
These materials will also encourage my students to take more risks with reading and work collaboratively. Thank you for reading about our very special project.
