Today a Reader, Tomorrow a Leader.

My students need non-fiction books pertaining to weather and landforms, as they are transitioning to the non-fiction unit. Because they are a diverse group with different reading levels, the selection fits perfect for the class.

FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Lau's classroom raised $1,000

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are a diverse group of individuals that come from all parts of the five boroughs. They come from a diverse community and speak over five different languages. They are all held at the highest standard of academic achievement and are embraced by their cultural diversity. My students come from low-income families and are a mix of English Language Learners and students with disabilities. They all are bright individuals with various learning needs and levels of academic needs, and value the importance of learning for growth and development.

We create different opportunities for student learning and growth in the classroom that is tailored to their learning needs.

My Project

My class loves reading non-fiction books and reading about what matters to them. This new book set, for them, will keep them engaged and interested with what issues matter to them in the world today--weather, landforms, etc. I can't express how essential reading is to my students, because it helps them grow as learners, find pleasure in reading, entertain them in a different way, and help them train their mind to think outside of the box.

Reading is an important foundation to build especially at a young age.

It helps build their vocabulary and improve their comprehension. This new set of books will keep them interested, to continue reading, as they progress in academic life.
