My Project
I love that my students show compassion to each other in the classroom when they see one of their fellow classmates in need they do not hesitate to step up and help them solve the problem and I love watching this in my students.
1.
My students will learn to see the world in the eyes of others by reading the material we print from teacher pay teachers that will focus on people in other countries how they live, how they're eating, their environment and what problems are they facing today.
2. My students will work to help those they learned about by actually being that person for the day. We will have class discussions on how they felt being in that person's shoes. Students will reflect on what they have read about that country or person. Students will make a diagram in their journals on what the problem is, How did this person feel having this problem, and how we can solve the problem. We will talk about short time fixes and long-term fixes. Children will then brainstorm and come up with the best solutions on how they can help the issue that that person or country is is having.
3. I will measure the success of my students understanding compassion by having them complete a survey about compassion before the project and after the project. Students will also be required to write a reflection once a week on what they learn throughout the week How did it make them feel and how is it affecting them
I will check for understanding by having students write two paragraphs explaining what compassion is, how do they feel about compassion after doing this project, and what can they do to promote compassion around the world, in their community and in their school
Nearly all students from low‑income households
