Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students come from very low income homes. We are a Title 1 school. 60 % of our students are free lunch and we have a diverse Hispanic population. I want to provide my students with the classroom tools they deserve as well as a safe, loving and creative learning environment. Our school houses 30 first grade classrooms and 28 second grade classrooms. With a school this large, it can be a challenge, providing the newest and most up to date tools and materials for our students. Although, we have many challenges within our school, our teachers provide the best instruction as well as a loving environment for all students.
My Project
This fun tree house will provide my students with imaginative, creative play time. The need for pretend play in children is essential for normal development. This type of play contributes to children's social and cognitive development. Language skills are another developmental area that increases during imaginative play in the classroom. This allows children to express themselves as well as build fine motor skills. With the tree house, students will be able to arrange the furniture in any way they wish to set up a fun scene for the dolls. Instead of a doll house, children will be able to imagine all kinds of fun activities to play with their friends in this magical tree house!
