To The Next Level with Tablet PCs!!!

My students need to have a tablet PC because it is the ultimate teaching tool with an innovative approach for differing instruction and learning in a diverse classroom.

FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Abbott's classroom raised $744

This project is fully funded

Support me as I aim to differentiate teaching and learning with the ultimate piece of advanced technology! Currently, I teach in a "high need" school in the inner city. My energized third grade students are traditional taught with chalkboards and textbooks. The community is poverty stricken and therefore, the school is also in need of resources to raise achievement and motivation. The school where I teach is very involved with the community and the culture is centered around building relationships with parents, community and students. Our goal as a school is to challenge our students with rigorous, stimulating and relevant experiences. My goal as a teacher is to maximize learning potential by incorporating technology that motivates and engages all students! Join me as I transform teaching and take it to the next level!

My classroom is comprised of a beautiful diverse group of learners with various interests, motivations and experiences. To bridge the educational gap that exists, my students need a tablet PC to differentiate teaching and learning. Due to the lack of many resources in the inner city, textbooks and worksheets are mostly used for instruction. I've noticed that my third grade students have shown an overwhelming interest in computers and visual arts. My students express their understanding visually in many dynamic ways. A tablet PC would allow my students to share their knowledge in a way for all the class to see and learn from. Diagrams and graphic organizers can be easily displayed for view. Every subject taught in the classroom can be visually displayed with a tablet PC and projector for all to see. The tablet PC allows the teacher and class to transform simple word documents by adding comments, making corrections and editing written text. Corrections can be made to the documents for the entire class to view and learn from. The tablet is interactive and allows everyone in the room to participate with the tablet pen and overhead projector. Text can be transformed into colorful diagrams.

With your support a tablet PC will allow my students to mathematically update charts, graphs and algorithms. A tablet PC would allow students to volunteer his or her way of solving a problem so that students can see the various outcomes at one time. Elements of a reading story can be illustrated by every student within a lesson, saved by the tablet PC and used as a document for a later date or used in connection with an overhead projector for view by everyone. I believe that a tablet PC would inspire students to contribute more to classroom lessons. I also feel that the tablet PC would increase intellectual curiosity and increase respect for different solutions, ideas and strategies.

I strive to provide my students with updated and relevant lessons that are lively, meaningful and challenging. I encourage you to assist me in bringing a differing approach to teaching and learning of concepts and real world topics. HELP bridge the educational gap with an advanced tool that is diverse, engaging and an alternative to the norm! Your help will promote diversity with instruction and learning along with preparing young minds for a world inundated with advanced technology. Thank you for reviewing my proposal.
