My Students
Science can be a messy business. I teach junior high science in a small rural district in southwest Mississippi. We have been working to incorporate more and more laboratory experiences into our curriculum. This has left us running low on some basic supplies.
My students are generally from low income households.
This doesn't leave a lot of extra cash for parents to make contributions to lab supplies. My students love the lab experiences but I cannot allow them to perform experiments without the required safety precautions. For most experiments, this is nothing more than a covering over their clothes, gloves on their hands, goggles to protect the eyes, and antibacterial wipes for clean-up when we're done.
My Project
We have a good supply of safety goggles to protect our eyes. But we are almost out of disposable aprons and gloves. I would like to begin the new school year in August by introducing my students to the lab. In order to do this, I need to have a supply of disposable aprons and gloves at the ready. This is where you, Dear Donor, come into the equation.
Supplying my future scientists with the necessary protective gear they need to "suit up" for the lab will ensure that the next generation of researchers, scientists, and inventors are off to a good start!
Nearly all students from low‑income households
