To Mask Or Not To Mask?

Help me give my students masks and a class no-touch thermometer to protect them from the Pandemic.

My Students

In my ninth through twelve grade, a diverse population of high school students is coming back to school under a variety of circumstances including a pandemic. They are going to need a lot of support.

It has been a pretty tough year for all of us all around, but these children, being from poor homes as defined by our Title I school district status (100% free lunch), have had a much more disappointing and difficult time.

Approximately 95% of our school population is African American. The students are mostly from single-parent households. My students (9th - 12th grade) are bright, energetic, talented, and resourceful.

After a pretty disappointing last school year, it is my desire to make our class as safe and clean as possible as we start to return to face-to-face instruction during this pandemic.

My Project

As we all know, the Pandemic has lasted longer than anyone ever suspected. It has been devastating, especially to those of us who have had love ones who have been affected. It is my desire to maximize the safety of all of my students and their families by providing them with additional masks for their use.

I have noticed some students wearing disposable masks on many occasions, but some of them are not changing them frequently.

Although we will be practicing social distancing and other protocols, we need additional masks for those who may not have them. That is something many times we take for granted that students can readily access.

We would like to distribute them to the students to have them accessible for them and their family members.

In addition, for those face-to-face students, I would like to have a no-touch thermometer for our class.
