To Love Reading By Tapping Into Their Interests

My students need 20 book titles for reading material in our classroom to support the different genes that we are discussing and learning about, along with meeting student learning needs.

FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Beal's classroom raised $295

My Students

Do you remember the first time you actually choose to read? Or the first time that you found something that piqued your interest in an actual book? My students need to have these experiences within the classroom as we only have a small library in our school with limited resources.

The students all have different levels of reading abilities and interests.

We are in a rural area with limited resources. Thus, we need a wide range of reading material to keep them interested and wanting to read in and outside of the classroom. Many students have stated to me that they dislike reading but really what they dislike is reading the norm - a textbook. I want the students to become passionate about reading again.

My Project

I want students to find the books and be memorized by the words they are reading. I want the students to find themselves in another world, a world only inhibited by their imagination. By having these books donated to our classroom you would be opening such opportunities to the students and helping them bring their love of reading to others (including their families!). Students will use these books to do literature circle groups where they will discuss their thoughts on the text along with a recommendation. I want this to be an informal book discussion on many different texts. Please bring the love of reading back to a society where technology is over ruling!

The students will not only learn the passion of reading and discussing the text, but be able to bring this passion home when discussing the text with family members.

The hope is that the students love will inspire other family members to pick up a book and enjoy reading also!
