My Students

My love for education started when I taught overseas in South Korea. Being in a classroom brings an energy and passion out of me like nothing I have ever felt before. Now I teach in an inner city school in Los Angeles where the resources are few, but the childrens' needs are high.

I have a beautiful opportunity to make a difference in a child's life every single day and I would not change that for all the money in the world.

It is in my teaching philosophy to bring out the very best of every child, and to do that my expectations have to be very high. I try to balance out my classroom with fun, challenge, love, and laughter. I built my classroom environment to be one where children want to come to every day and learn. The atmosphere has to be welcoming as I build a community of scholars. So I welcome you to be a part of my classroom by helping out with projects to improve my students' lives and learning.

My Project

Last year I had the wonderful opportunity to go to a professional development where I learned about this amazing STEM series, Picture Perfect Stem Lessons, and I felt the urge to start implementing the lessons in my classroom. Since the series combines both literature and STEM activities, it has been difficult to bring to my students due to inaccessibility to the children's literature used to teach the lessons. Now I look to the kindness of strangers to help me get the series and the pack of trade books at my school so I can implement these lessons in my classroom, and share the resource with the other K-2 teachers that I have the honor to work with.

The benefits of this series is that it embeds reading-comprehension strategies that integrate STEM activities and English Language Arts through high-quality picture books.

It will help me to design lessons that will engage my students in STEM activities while learning to read and reading to learn.

Myself and my team of fabulous teachers would love the opportunity to inspire the future scientists, techies, engineers, and mathematicians with this valuable resource.
