My Project
Our primary objective for this project is to provide resources that meet the varied needs of our students. Many of our children struggle with staying seated and regulating their bodies, and we have found that sensory activities play a crucial role in helping them manage their emotions and improve focus. To support their growth, we are seeking materials that will assist with their sensory needs, fine motor development, and overall emotional and social well-being.
Specifically, we aim to acquire:
Sensory Tools and Materials: Items such as textured seats and a sandbox will help students learn descriptive concepts (e.g., soft, hard, bumpy textures) and colors, while also supporting fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, dexterity, and strength. Sand, in particular, is a favorite sensory tool in our classroom, as it provides both relaxation and stimulation.
Noise-Canceling Headphones: Essential for students who are sensitive to loud sounds, these headphones will help them stay calm and focused.
Interactive Activities: Hands-on items like legos,playdoh and costumes will keep students engaged while encouraging creativity and independent learning.
Technology Resources: Tools such as iPads and educational software will aid in creating activities, tracking progress, developing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), and providing teacher training on diverse instructional methods.
A Calming corner : A key element of our sensory corner, this safe and comfortable space will provide students with a retreat where they can self-regulate when feeling overstimulated.
