My second grade class is a great bunch! I have a motivated group of students who are eager to learn. My students learn best when they are engaged in meaningful activities. My class is composed of diverse learners, while some students are in need of enrichment, others are in need of additional support. I have English Language Learners and students with Individualized Education Plans in my class. My second graders are each unique and bring their own strengths to the classroom. We have many different cultures and backgrounds in our classroom and we enjoy celebrating each and every student!
My Project
A pencil sharpener is an essential in my second grade class. With 30 students in the class, there is always someone who needs a pencil sharpened. We had an electric sharpener but it is no longer working. Currently, my students are using handheld manual pencil sharpeners. These take a lot of time and often break or don't work well. An electric pencil sharpener will help to preserve learning time by cutting down on the time students take sharpening pencils manually. This will allow me to have a full sets of sharpened pencils ready for my students each day.
