it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Have you ever stopped and said to yourself-If I had ____ I could do it. My students have this thought everyday when they learn math. We are a third grade class in a low income, Title 1 school. My students work hard to learn math essentials, yet many still struggle to achieve basic math concepts.
The students in my class currently face the task of performing at or above standards on their math state performance exam.
While many students love learning new things, it often becomes difficult to make practice tests an exciting learning venture. I would love to give my students the opportunity to learn the math concepts that they are required to know, while enjoying engaging math games and activities that will make learning more fun for them.
My Project
My solution is to fill my classroom with an assortment of math games and activities, so that my students will have the opportunity to expand their knowledge on mathematics. The colorful collection of games, manipulatives and flashcards will allow me to model for students the strategies they will need to be successful in math. All of these materials will be essential for my students to develop a better understanding and appreciation for mathematics.
I would like to thank you in advance for your generosity and kindness.
While it may seem like a lot, the overall impact that it will have on my students academic and social standing will make it well worth it. Just thinking about how excited they will be when they see the multiple math games that they can turn to for enrichment, support or just enjoyment makes this project even more special. Thank you again.
