Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Please help my Los Angeles TK class obtain materials that we can use this year to master grade level content skills! With headphones, printer ink, Makerbot filament, and a subscription to BrainPop Jr., we will be able to explore topics in math, science, social studies and more!
My transitional kindergarten students attend a high poverty school located in the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles County.
Our school receives a Title I designation because of the high number of students whose families live below the poverty level.
My class includes students with disabilities and students that are learning to speak English for the first time. My students start school at age four, and will all soon be having their fifth birthdays. For many of them, this is their first year of school. I am requesting supplies that we can use throughout the year to restock what was used last year.
My Project
BrainPop Jr. digital content uses animations and stories to teach science, math, social studies and other concepts. This content is designed to work well with young learners, so that they can understand what they see and hear. A one year subscription would serve this year's students well.
After years of use, most of our headphones have broken. We use headphones with our Tag Readers, listening center, computer and iPads. I am requesting replacements headphones for my students to use this year.
The Makerbot tape and filament will be used with our wonderful 3D printer! Last year we made items such as secret heart boxes for Valentines Day. I look forward to seeing what ideas the children come up with this year!
I am also requesting printer ink to keep our printer working. Throughout the year we print pictures that are designed on Kidpix. New chairs are also needed to replace the oversized ones we currently have.
By donating to this request, your money will be doubled because First Five LA has generously offered to match projects that support Los Angeles transitional kindergarten classrooms.
You will be helping a great group of young children get off to strong start in their learning. Thank you so much for your help!
