My students need materials for our handwriting program such as practice books and flashcards, ink for our printers, and early learning manipulatives and art supplies.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Please help my Los Angeles TK class obtain materials that we can use this year to learn how to print letters and numbers, complete art activities and develop fine motor skills.
My transitional kindergarten students attend a high poverty school located in the San Fernando Valley.
My class includes students with disabilities and students that are learning to speak English for the first time. My students start school at age four, and will all soon be having their fifth birthdays.
My Project
I have spent the last four years looking for programs and materials that work best with this age group. The Handwriting Without Tears program is a wonderful way for young children to learn to print letters, numbers, words and sentences. I am requesting some items that we need to complete this program, including flash cards, practice books, the teacher's guides to lessons, crayons and pencils.
I have also requested early learning manipulatives such as design builders, craft kits, a rhyming photo library and Magic Boards as a fun way strengthen fine motor skills and to practice writing and drawing. Additionally, I have requested ink for our class printers so that the children can print out their stories and KidPix drawings.
Your donation will be doubled because First Five LA has generously offered to match projects that support Los Angeles transitional kindergarten classrooms.
You will be helping a great group of young children get off to strong start in their learning. Thank you so much for your help!
