The kiddos in the Essential Skills program are excited about learning new things. They are even more excited about learning new things with messy projects! Tivi trays are a way to allow for organized mess while learning and growing. The tray is large enough to hold a piece of paper and has special sections at the top for paint, glue, sequins, buttons, or any other fun material we can add to a lesson.
Tivi trays are a great classroom resource that can promote independence!
The materials are neatly organized. More importantly, the materials are accessible to my learners. Having activities organized and prepared helps kids understand what is expected. By having the kids help organize those materials for the activities, I can help build those independent skills! Independence is key for young learners...especially those with special needs!
One of my favorite resources as a special education teacher is a blog titled Autism Little Learners. The author of the blog is a special education teacher and a speech pathologist who specializes in the education of young children who have Autism Spectrum DIsorder (ASD). Her workshops, activities, and lessons align nicely with the expectations and learning happening in my Essential Skills classroom. She has a store on Teachers Pay Teachers where she sells her lessons and activities...lots of which feature Tivi Trays!
