Title I Teacher Making A Comfort Classroom for World Explorers

Help me give my students access to engaging, informative resources that make global history feel real. With added comfort and functionality, our classroom will be a space where curiosity thrives.

My Project

I strive to make my world geography classroom a welcoming and engaging space where students feel comfortable learning and exploring the world. Many students call it their “comfort classroom,” thanks in part to the cozy seating area. The slipcovers I’ve requested will help keep that space clean and functional, allowing students to relax, collaborate, and engage in group discussions without worry.

Several items on this list support specific instructional goals.

For example, the Roman busts, historical maps, and reference books will be used during our upcoming units on Ancient Rome, SWANA (Southwest Asia and North Africa), and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. These materials will serve as anchor visuals and supplemental texts for independent research projects where students practice interpreting sources, comparing cultural perspectives, and developing historical empathy.

Art supplies like Sharpies and shape templates will be used for creative mapping activities, visual timelines, and culture posters—projects that reinforce spatial thinking, creativity, and content mastery. The large trash can will help maintain a clean environment during these hands-on lessons, which often generate more waste.

Finally, the stickers and trophy are used as incentives in class competitions and project showcases, helping to build community, recognize effort, and keep students motivated. Every item on this list supports my goal of creating a dynamic, student-centered classroom where learners feel seen, challenged, and inspired.
