This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Due to Hurricane Harvey, my students were displaced and have been placed in a church that opened their doors to us. My students are very special because they have endured so much not only losing their homes or having to rebuild but also the use of technology is something they need at our elementary school since the school does not supply more than 1 computer per classroom. They continue to make the best of this situation and are determined to get good grades. They would love iPads for an iPad station.
My Project
My 5th grade science class has only one computer for our technology station. The use of two iPads can help those high achievers with advanced work online and also help those students who are in need of other online resources needed to elaborate my teachings. 80% of my students come from poverty so I’m sure they don’t have access to computers at home as well. I would be able to use applications such as Go Noodle or science websites where my students my be able to engage their thinking while I am reteaching those who are falling behind. I have a great bunch of kids who love science!
