Title I Elementary School Library Reading Zone!

My Project

This is the first year in many years that students at my Title I elementary school are able to check books out of the library. I'm trying to create a child-friendly environment while also upgrading the space so it's easier for the kids to navigate.

A child-friendly rug will help students know where to sit when listening to stories and pillows will allow them to be cozy when they read on their own!

I spend my own money on things, but a rug is much too expensive for me. However, it would save a lot of time while also making the library look more welcoming. Students enter the library and always sit in the front of the library where we do fingerplays and listen to stories. Having something visual to sit on will give everyone their own personal space and keep the roamers in the area, too. This would help set the right tone for the read-aloud!

I'm also trying to create comfortable reading nooks since I currently don't have any soft seating. The kids will love to sit on soft pillows while reading! I already have the perfect place to put them!

I hope you'll fund my project that will encourage kids at my school to enjoy books and reading!
