Eight 3 and 4-year-olds bustle around a busy classroom, exploring the world around them, manipulating materials and learning through play and participation in carefully planned learning experiences.
All of these mini-scholars are exceptional students and none of them lack curiosity.
This is what happens in both sessions (morning and afternoon) of my half-day preschool classroom. This is the first school experience for many my students, who represent a ethnically diverse low income neighborhood where 100% of the school's students come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
My Project
I have several students that need extra help in the area of literacy learning. The students need appropriate technology to enhance their literacy learning. The 3 iPads and headphones will be used by my students to access ABC Mouse and other early literacy applications. My students are in need of interactive lessons for language and literacy development.
This project will help my students learn to identify letters and their sounds to improve their early literacy and language skills.
My students need the extra practice time during centers to have purposeful exposure to and interaction with letters (all of them) each day. Research shows that quality early language and literacy instruction is linked to future literacy and career success.
