My Students
The children in our studio are a unique group of about 30 individuals who coexist with the ultimate goal of being peaceful humans. The children are inspired to learn through their own passions. They all have embraced the Montessori philosophy of being true to what makes them unique.
Our motto is to "Be you, bravely!" Our school is a public Montessori school that lives under our district's funding, so we are limited by our set budget.
However, we have complete freedom to follow the Montessori curriculum and philosophy!
We honor every member of our studio: the right to be safe, the right to learn, the right to take care of personal needs, the right to explore, and the right to make mistakes. What I admire most about the students in my care is their genuine kindness and acceptance for all members of our studio!
My Project
The Timeline of Life is a huge part of the Montessori curriculum and opens the door for inspiration and study into the areas of zoology and botany! This timeline offers the children a sequence of the evolution of life on Earth from the Proterozoic Era through the Cenozoic Era. This set has a control chart with pictures and labels of the life for each Era, then there is a blank chart that the children can work with to build on their own. This work inspires further research by the children and comes with research cards about each life form on the timeline written for children at the elementary level!
The Timeline of Life gives the children the BIG picture of how life has evolved and adapted over large periods time on an easily understandable and manipulatable timeline.
The Montessori Great Lessons give the child a BIG impression a concept which then ignites a fire in the child to discover and research the portion of that lesson that speaks to them. The integrated and multidisciplinary approach to the Second Great Lesson provides the child with an understanding of biology that is rooted in science and individual passion!
