My Students
Our school is a remarkable educational institution located on the edge of a newer, middle-class neighborhood. Our students are a difficult group to generalize, merging from many different backgrounds. We have some students that have come from Europe and Asia to study here, while some were born right in Herriman.
Our students work in a rigorous classroom environment that promotes exploration and experimentation, and knowledge building through inquiry-based learning.
They all have a few things in common. They're kids. They are eager and timid. They want to shine but don't want to stand out. They have talents and ambitions but need to learn so much in a rapidly changing world. We are trying to get them ready.
My Project
Part of the artistic process for the creator, and aesthetic experience for the viewer, is the act of curating and exhibiting artwork. The experience of art exhibition provides the opportunity for students to express themselves to others through their art, and the opportunity for others to experience art as an audience.
The Walker Display System will allow students to hang and show off their work in a professional manner.
When students prepare and follow through on showing their work, it increases esteem and self-efficacy.
This will also help students meet Utah State Standards for Visual Arts in curation and exhibition.
