Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
From experience, one thing I know is my students will be a group of very energetic and curious 4-5 year olds. For some of my children, this will be their first time in a school building. It may also be the first time they are socializing with children their own age due to the pandemic. I know these children are going to be so excited to learn new things every day!
Last year due to our hybrid learning, many of our manipulatives were given to the children so they could work from home and continue to learn even when not in the building.
Now we realize it’s time to replenish our resources so our children will have as much Hands On Activities as those who have passed through our doors before them.
When we left school last year we were hoping everything would be back to normal, but I guess the reality is there will always be a new normal, at least for a while. One constant is that our children will always be learning and Hands On Learning will always be a part of that.
My Project
Using manipulatives for Hands-On Learning is always the best learning for Pre-K students. Whether they are counting or sorting or building and discussing their ideas with teachers and friends, you never see the same action twice. With these manipulatives, my students will be using their imaginations while learning and the funny thing is, they will only think they are creating and having fun. Last year we sent many manipulatives home with our students so now we see we are in short supply.
With you helping us replenish our manipulative supply we will be able to provide the same learning experiences we have in the past.
We will also be able to send them home with the children if for some reason we will need to pivot like last year, so learning, creating, and imaginative play can continue.
