Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
DO you remember when you learned to read? How about learning to read with fluency and turn it into a game?
Some of my students are ESL (English as a Second Language) and some are GT (Gifted and Talented).
These are the students population I will be serving in the 2010-2011 school year. They are diverse and have very different learning needs. Finding a common method that is interesting and fun is the key to motivate and capture a love of reading.
My Project
Students will use timers to time their reading and will move up the reading ladder as they master each level. The students will learn to read with ease and speed that will set them for success in all other subject matters. Their ability to read well will help them in their educational career now and in the future.
Learning to read and read well is a foundation for further learning and self esteem.
By providing timers to my class students will be eager to want to read. They will read with ease and determination to meet the time that is set before them. That means practice makes perfect!
