This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is located the second smallest city in Los Angeles County. Our elementary school is 552 students strong. We have 1 percent African American, and 98 percent Latinos. We have a 90 percent socioeconomically disadvantaged population and 4 percent foster youth. 100% of our students get free lunch.
Despite the many challenges they face, my students arrive every morning full of life, ready to learn, and excited to get started on our day.
I do my best to provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.
My Project
This materials will give my students real and interesting stories to read about. It will provide them with stories they can relate to. My students will be able to use these reading materials on a daily bases throughout the day.
These stories are short interesting articles the students are drawn to and can use to read on their or can be read during whole group lessons.
Our school budget has been drastically cut in the recent year. Without the help of generous donors, we can not afford even the most basic supplies. Please help me to get my students reading material. These materials will provide an article for each of my students to read throughout the year without having to share. That is very important to them at this age.
