My Students

Give us more informational text for our curriculum! Our students need another method to interest them in reading other than our series readers.

My students are active five and six year old children from central Florida.

They love to learn new things and to try doing things they have never had the opportunity to do. We are a Title 1 school. We have about 89 percent of our students that are on the free or reduced lunch program. Many come from economically disadvantaged families with one parent homes or raised by other family members.

My Project

I will create a magazine center that can be used during center time. I will put out materials and items related to the current issue to stimulate the interest in the magazines. The Let's Find Out with Science supplement will give our students the opportunity to learn about science and social studies topics through a monthly magazine. The topics are presented with real pictures and in an eye catching manner. We have used this magazine in our classroom and really enjoyed it. Time magazines are amazing with up to date topics for the children to learn about social studies topics and current events. This would be a new edition to the classroom that would meet the needs of our curriculum.

My student parents cannot afford to buy magazines for their child.

By getting this project funded my students will be able to learn about current topics and be introduced to new ideas. Let's Find Out and Time magazines are current topics magazines that is a wonderful addition to our social studies and science curriculum.
