Imagine a whole new understanding of our world through reading nonfiction stories. My students are in need of more expository reading materials and it is through the nonfiction stories that we will achieve our goals.
My wonderful and highly enthusiastic first grade students attend a high performing school in a lower income area in California.
They are proud of their school and the community they belong to. My students are a curious group and are always inquiring about the world that surrounds them.
My Project
We are kindly requesting nonfiction reading materials to support the new state standards for our grade level. My students will use these materials during whole group lessons to develop reading comprehension skills such as understanding main ideas, reasoning, and develop inquiry-based questions. This will help peak their curiosity within their community and throughout the world.

Through the use of these reading materials, my students will be able to make a better connection between academic content and their environment.
