it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Entering my fifth year as a teacher for students with special needs, it's absolutely imperative that my students continue to understand the importance of technology as part of 21st century skills. My students are resilient 9th and 10th graders in special day classes with mild to moderate learning disabilities. Due to my background from a low income household, my students resonate with me because they too know what it's like to have the odds stacked against you when trying to obtain higher education. Our school is located in a low income community in South Los Angeles; henceforth, why it's also a Title I school with very limited funding. Graduation rates are unfortunately low, but the students remain diligent young scholars. It's an honor to help them take the proper measures to graduate as this is their final step before entering college! They are resilient, fun, caring, and deserving of everything that we can creatively muster to provide for them.
My Project
These new pair of headphones will make my student’s academic lives so much better! They have been relying on school laptop speakers and having to deal with background noise when taking online assessments. We have such a small school that the students usually do not have the necessary privacy to complete online assessments to their fullest extent. They are constantly asking for quality headphones which we haven’t been able to provide! The headphones would be perfect for students to better focus as well as provide the best scores and data to share with school and family for upcoming and future IEPs.
