This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

What time is it?! Not sure, because you can't read an analog clock? Hmm... Well, it's time to learn! (We don't have a digital clock in our classroom.)

I teach at a unique urban Title I school.

My students come from a variety of backgrounds. I teach students Kindergarten through fifth grade, many of whom have individual needs that does not allow them to attend school daily. Many of the students I teach have emotional and social issues, have frequent medical treatments, have safety concerns, have difficulty in a traditional school setting and/or are homeless. My students each face their own challenges everyday outside of school.

My Project

My students need a teaching clock so that they can learn to tell time. Many of my students can only read a digital clock. Show them a "real" clock and they are confused. I need to make sure that my students can tell time. This is an important life skill. Time flashcards and matching cards will allow my students to practice individually or with their peers. Grade level appropriate math manipulatives will help with learning and practicing telling time, understanding time lapse, and predicting what time something will finish. These are important life skills that students need to know. The requested math aides will be used in a variety of ways; from whole group instruction, small group use, and independent, individual use.

My students need materials and manipulatives that will give them multiple opportunities to learn and practice important math skills, such as telling time, understanding how much time has passed or how much time is needed for activities.

My students will learn skills that they can apply to their daily lives. Please support our classroom projects. Help my students learn to tell time as well as develop social skills, while having fun!
