Time To Learn With TIME for Kids

My Students

This year I am teaching two classes of creative and talented second-grade scholars at a Title I school in urban North Carolina. We are a Title I school, meaning all of the students receive free breakfast and lunch. Even though these students come from low socioeconomic backgrounds they still come to school happy, smiling, bubbly, and ready to learn!

In class, my students are not just kids, they are goal achievers, scientists, leaders, goal-setters, dreamers, readers, and mathematicians.

My students aspire to be policemen, doctors, teachers, firefighters, veterinarians and inventors. They deserve the best education and the best educational supplies to help them be successful second graders so they can make their dreams come true!

My Project

I am asking for a class set of TIME for Kids for my class. With reading and math taking up most of the school day it is important we still find time to teach Social Studies and Science. My class will use TIME for Kids to learn about current events locally and globally. My class will use the magazine to read with a partner or as a whole class. Students will be able to engage in meaningful discussion about what is happening around the world which will increase their global awareness. Since we have access to technology my class will be able to use their chrome books to use the TIME for Kids website for a more interactive social studies learning experience.
