This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are enthusiastic bright kids who live in a high poverty urban community. Many of them are English Language Learners and struggle academically. I love teaching these students physical education because it is a subject that all kids can excel in.
My Project
When my students are able to safely return to our school this fall, they will be recovering from months of being trapped inside with minimal physical activity. The pandemic has taken a physical, mental, and emotional toll on all of these children and I know they will be eager to go to gym class. With over 700 students enrolled, we go through balls fast and with massive budget cuts, we are forced to make a lot of sacrifices.
These students deserve to be enjoying the sports they love but cannot without the equipment!
Physical education is a beloved class but without supplies, it isn't the same. These balls will enable them to play many of their favorite sports.
