Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students come from every corner of the world. Each has a unique story to tell, but often, they have not yet mastered enough of the English language to share it.
As they learn the how to maneuver through this new world, they will also need to learn how to organize their school work.
Our school is located on the water's edge. Ours is a small Title I high school located in the Flatbush area of Brooklyn. We are sandwiched between two major urban bridges - The Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges. All of my students are English Language Learners (ELLs). They come from every part of the globe seeking a new life of opportunity and freedom here in the United States. They come with the hope that education will allow them to meet their full potential.
My Project
In order to make the task of learning easier, my students first need to learn how to organize their work assignment, notes and science labs.
My proposal is to provide students with folders and labels and storage boxes that will help them sort and organize their school work.
If I can teach my students this valuable skill, they will be better prepared to learn and study. I can better service my students and help them understand science concepts in greater depth. Well organized notes should help them score better on tests.
