My students need privacy screens for completing assessments, two iPod Touches for our Listen to Reading Center, and a giant digital timer to help manage our time.
My goal each year is to inspire children to love learning and to create the desire to be really good people who have a lot to offer to our community.
Our school is one that has a huge range of abilities.
Twenty percent of the students in each classroom have identified special needs. This is a full inclusion school, meaning that all learners are in one classroom all day. Our model forces its teachers to teach to all learners using a wide variety of tools to reach all students.
My Project
Privacy screens will enable all learners to ignore distractions and stay focused during all assignments. They are extremely helpful for students who struggle to keep their eyes on their own paper and for students who need less visual stimulation in order to concentrate. The iPod Touches will enable our students to listen to our weekly stories aloud during the Listen to Reading Center during Daily Five. The giant digital timer will help my students better manage their time when provided a limit for completing an assignment. In addition, students will no longer need to get up from their desks to see the timer on the board!
These materials will help provide an even more conducive environment for learning.
Time management and the ability to focus on the task at hand are incredibly important life skills that I hope to help students practice daily. In addition, being able to independently use technology to aid in learning is crucial in today's world.
