This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are the motivating force of what I do every day. I get to learn from an amazing group of students from a variety of cultures, countries, backgrounds, and experiences as I help them learn as well.

These students are often significantly behind grade level and maintaining the desire to learn is a challenge I face as the curriculum gets more and more rigorous.

These students want to learn and feel supported in their education as they deserve.

These students motivate me consistently and I want to reciprocate that feeling by helping them feel motivated through engaging activities and materials. They need people who believe in them and know that they have the ability to succeed just as I do.

By receiving materials and projects from DonorsChoose, my students have felt like they are valued in society and that they deserve nice and new things to support their education.

My Project

As a student, I remember receiving the weekly copy of TIME for Kids. Whether it was reading it for enjoyment or having class discussions and debates, I always felt that even at a young age I was connected with the world around me. I would like to provide this experience for my students as well so that they can read about current events and issues happening around them.

Helping our students learn to explore the world, advocate for themselves, and support their beliefs is something that takes critical thinking skills which can be fostered by TIME Magazine.

My students are often exposed to current events from overhearing adults around them. I would like to provide them a credible source as well as a safe environment to interact with the many articles TIME for Kids would offer.
