My students need a subscription to TIME magazine, a nonfiction newsstand and a cozy rug to gather the facts!
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Farr's classroom raised $539

My Students
My kindergarten classroom is full of 19 energetic and active learners. They love to work on the floor, standing up and even laying on their stomachs. They love to jump, sing, play and dance. Their abilities and needs range from just learning the English Language to being beginning readers. However, no matter their abilities we are a family and they strive to do their best every day. This year, my students have learned how to write their name, add and subtract and begin to read. They are some of the hardest workers that I know!
My students are eager, energetic and very curious to learn about the world around them.
I always want my students to feel loved and supported when they are at school.
My Project
My students are constantly gathering and processing information daily. They hear information in the classroom, on the playground, at home and after school programs. They are like sponges that just constantly absorb information.
I want to create a warm and inviting place for my students to gather around and learn the facts by using current and age appropriate magazines.
I imagine students reading on their belly, sitting in a comfy chair or just sitting on the floor. They may read by themselves or with a couple of friends. The nonfiction newsstand and subscription to TIME magazine will provide my students with the opportunity to read kid friendly magazines that are age appropriate for my students to become media literate. My students will have access to real-world topics that are relevant to them today. These magazines are some of the best nonfiction texts written on a kindergarten level that you will find!
Help me provide my kindergarten students with the magazines needed to promote media literacy skills for my students to gather the facts!
