Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach in an affluent area, but work with students from around the county that require IEPs. These students are very kind and supportive of those around them, including adults. They are very patient students even during my setup process. Therefore, it's important for me to spend as much time as possible supporting the students in their learning.
The students I work with push themselves to meet their learning goals.
They are very motivated and pay close attention to the work they complete. Some of them even integrate their personal interests in their work. They do tend to struggle with some of their weaknesses and struggle to control emotions when they feel they have not accomplished perfection.
My classroom is usually double rostered, which means I usually teach two subjects per period. It can take some time to transition from one subject to another. During each school year, it is my hope to gather and improve my resources that I use to teach. I have gotten good feedback from my students on what works and what doesn't. These students are very blunt about what they think is working or not working.
My Project
Because I teach multiple subjects and grades, I constantly jump between many websites, apps, and files in order to teach each class. My students will benefit from the Stream Deck by allowing me to save time with a touch of a button and help me teach multiple subjects and grades in one classroom. With less time being consumed, students will be able to have more time to learn and get the support they need from me. The Stream Deck will allow me to get straight to instruction and as well as enhance my students' learning experience.
As a teacher, every second of instructional time is important, and I would like to ensure that that instructional time is not wasted navigating numerous menus.
A very important reason why my students will benefit from the Stream Deck is because I would be able to invest time performing informal assessments during lessons. As a result, I will be able to spend more time helping the students access their curriculum instead of consuming it navigating my computer. With my student population, I want to keep them engaged as much as possible with as little downtime as possible.
