My Students

Do you remember how exciting it was to get to be the "teacher" to your classmates? My students love to read aloud to each other and use a timer to calculate their words per minute.

My students are from a very poor school.

Most of them are from poverty stricken homes. We do not receive state funds to purchase items needed for our classrooms. My students are very hard workers and are excited to improve their skills. They work very hard because they understand the importance of learning.

My Project

Second graders work hard to become fluent readers and fluent in their math facts. We accomplish these goals by continuous practice. The problem we have is many of the students only get the help they need at school. This is why it is so important to provide them with resources to help them be fluent in math and reading.

We do not have state funds to purchase classroom supplies so most items come from my own personal money.

My students love to time themselves or their friends however, we do not have working timers for them to do this. The timers make the students excited to practice and allows them to keep track of their progress.
