My students need supplemental material to go along with our social studies curriculum. We don't have textbooks, everything is online. Unfortunately we're only allotted so many reams of paper per month. Time Magazine will help tremendously.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Everyone of my scholars....all 60 of them are special to me. They come from different backgrounds, different home environments, different levels and different stages and phases in life. One thing that they all have in common is the desire to learn.

I am an educator in a low income/high poverty school district.

Some of my scholars face harsh challenges at home. They may come to school without the needed supplies or perhaps they come with the bare necessities which isn't enough and definitely won't last the entire year, let alone a quarter.

As an educator it's difficult to effectively educate when you have a handful of scholars without the needed material. I want my scholars to be successful. If could, I would ensure that everyone of my scholars had the needed materials for the year. Unfortunately, I can't when I have so many. I am looking to keep things simple and provide for my scholars the needed materials in the classroom which will enhance and make their educational experience a rewarding one.

My Project

Time For Kids magazines will help to enhance our Social Studies/English Language Arts curriculum. Not only will it help in these core areas but using the highlighters to highlight important information will help prepare them for the state tests, which requires going back in the text highlighting important details.

Gifting these magazines and highlighters to my scholars will make a world of difference to our classroom.

We won't have to share nor will I need to make copies. Every scholar will have their own and I will be able to give highlighters to the ones that don't have. Time For Kids is an excellent resource tool because it keeps them current on the news and current events in America and globally.
