This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My classroom are English learners and socioeconomically disadvantaged students in a Title I school. My 6th grade students are a lively bunch who struggle to read non-fiction material. They are motivated to advance their learning with the materials and opportunities for academic growth provided to them. Reading is such an integral part of the learning process in our 6th grade classroom.

This project would provide our classroom with a yearly subscription of Time for Kids Magazine that teach students relevant non-fiction articles.

Non-fiction is a genre students have difficulty comprehending, therefore they don't read it as often as they should. This subscription would help students enjoy non-fiction stories and strengthen their skills.
