My students need Time for Kids to help enforce nonfiction reading skills.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Fulton's classroom raised $211

My Students
My students THRIVE on nonfiction books! They love exploring different places, animals and current events. They get so excited sharing the different facts they learn. I would love to give them as many opportunities to explore nonfiction if it means they are reading!
I have a group of wonderful 2nd grade students.
They love school and love exploring different things. Reading is a struggle for some only because it's difficult to find something to interest them. Nonfiction books tend to be a favorite! Everyone can find something interesting and exciting while reading nonfiction books! Even my lower readers are always astounded by the things they are able to learn from reading nonfiction!
My Project
When I began teaching 9 years ago, we were able to provide additional monthly resources to enforce nonfiction reading skills. The kids looked forward to those lessons and would absolutely eat up any new information they learned. Fast forward to today. Money is tight for many and classrooms are busting at the seams. Unfortunately, there isn't enough money available to provide these resources to my students. I have a group of 26 inquisitive 2nd graders who love nonfiction books. I would love to be able to provide as many resources available for them to explore their love for nonfiction. Time for Kids would be a great way to make this happen. It would provide monthly magazines the kids could read along with an opportunity for some fun lessons. It's a great way to integrate reading skills with social studies and/or Science.
If I am able to provide Time for Kids for my class, it would enrich the nonfiction instruction they already receive.
It will help me, as the teacher, integrate my subjects. This would be a great material to be able to send home with students, especially those who lack reading material at home!
