This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our High School is a New York City public school comprised of our city’s most talented young people and dedicated teachers and staff. We take great pride in the rigor of our curriculum, the quality of our instruction, and the performance of our students. .

Our students start their day ready and willing to face any challenges placed in front of them.

Our students, for lack of a better word, are exceptional. They enjoy learning and they enjoy being challenged. They test their teachers on a daily basis in a good way. They question everything around them and do not accept things at face value. And while our students are serious scholars they are involved in all aspects of school. They belong to various clubs in the school participate in athletics, and tap into their creative minds through the arts. They are on their way to becoming well rounded and productive members of society

My Project

While our students work hard, they play on the athletic field with just as much passion. They understand that while academics are important a healthy and fit body is equally important. Our high school tries to provide everything our students need, but unfortunately the budget can only go so far. We are not a Title One school so our school has limited funding. We have a supportive PTA but there are so many programs and so little funds. With the addition of these materials our Athletic programs as well as the tennis team will benefit. Our physical education teachers will have the equipment necessary to reach more students the tennis team will have the equipment to practice and compete in matches. My students need tennis racquets and portable nets to support their athletic endeavors.

This project will help our students stay involved in a healthy lifestyle.

While academics are important physical activity is also equally important, and the leadership skills and teamwork skills are valuable life lessons.
