Help me give my students the resources they need to improve reading comprehension skills. Having access to Time for Kids will give my students access to reading that they can take home!
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Although my students come from a low socioeconomic neighborhood where lack of resources available in their city places them at disproportionate levels, my students never cease to amaze me. Their parents work long hours, night shifts, or handle two jobs just to make ends meet. My students recognize and understand how vital their education is and never take it for granted.
My students are passionate about reading and are inspired to succeed.
They have learned about past heroes that even when stricken with obstacles, they did not render easily. My students are inspired to succeed and are not rendering either. Many of my students' parents are working jobs with long hours just to keep afloat, they don't always have extra money to purchase books. Libraries are not always walking distance from their homes and the neighborhood is not the safest. I don't want my students to lose their dreams.
My Project
Having access to reading materials is vital to my students. My students love to read, and I simply don't have enough books to quench their thirst for reading. I need help providing my students access to reading materials.
Time for Kids will provide students equal access to reading materials.
The kid-friendly print allows me to teach 3rd grade concepts, such as the main idea, drawing conclusions and making inferences. They will be able to read current events and then form their own opinions.
Time for Kids will most importantly give my students the opportunity to improve their reading comprehension skills!
