My Project
More and more of my students are displaying needs in the areas of personal social and behavior. My students need a calm corner that is a safe place when they are angry, upset, or overstimulated to go and calm down. They also need activities and games to help them learn strategies and coping tools to manage their feelings and self-regulate emotions. The materials requested will provide activities, books, and games that will help my students self-regulate. These tools will be used during small groups to help students work on building their self-confidence, the ability to effectively communicate, as well as accept disappointment.
The resource classroom teaches emotional regulation, self-awareness, and self-management; this helps prevent meltdowns; and develops stronger communication skills.
